Burnside Over 65s Contemporary Dance

This dance class for Over 65s was started in mid-2015 and is run through Burnside City Council as one of their Commonwealth Home Support Program activities. The term “contemporary dance” is used more broadly than what might usually be considered contemporary/modern dance, with choreography drawing inspiration from genres such as Musical Theatre/Jazz dance, Spanish Flamenco and Classical/Neoclassical Ballet.  It is, however, a low impact class without the jumping and floorwork that is common in a contemporary dance class. The highest level of exertion would be similar to going for a brisk walk.

This class is open to residents living in suburbs of the following local councils; Burnside, Unley, Norwood, Payneham, St Peters, Campbelltown, Prospect, Adelaide and Walkerville. No previous dance experience is necessary and new participants are welcome at any time! To view some examples of the dance class click here and here.
